History

Four generations ago, in 1918, Ted Vanderwerff Sr. established our general contracting business which is known today as Vanderwerff Construction Company, Inc.

Ted Jr. joined with his father in 1946. During Ted Jr.’s tenure, Vanderwerff Construction Company built banks, motels, lumberyards, industrial buildings, as well as many other structures throughout Lake County, Illinois.

Dale Vanderwerff, the current president, joined the company in 1974. By combining his education with his experience in the construction industry, Dale has been able to carry on the Vanderwerff Construction Company legacy of customer satisfaction while incorporating modern construction techniques and business management philosophy.

A new generation has evolved with the addition of Dale’s nephew Dale Villiard. Dale Villiard has been a key employee who maintains the values that his Uncle and Grandfather established.

Some notable examples of projects that Dale Villiard worked on include the U.S. headquarters of Rollomatic in Mundelein, Marquardt of Barrington in Barrington, Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in North Chicago, Zengeler Cleaners in north Libertyville, Dr. Burkey’s orthodontia office in Vernon Hills, Bruce’s Out’a Sight Self Storage in Barrington, , Grove Animal Hospital in Buffalo Grove, and the Firkin Restaurant in Libertyville.

Vanderwerff Construction Company has continued to build its customer base in Central Lake County focusing on the nonresidential construction market. We remain dedicated to our primary goal of customer satisfaction through personal service.
